Unterm Strich keine große Überraschung.
Mal gucken was die ersten Hands-ons zeigen.

Finde es aber spannend, dass nichts zum Thema 120 Hz BFI gesagt wurde. Wobei ich mich nicht erinnern kann, ob
das damals auch Thema auf der PK war, oder ob es erst später durchgesickert ist. Wurde damals ja aber wegen Temperaturproblemen kurz vor Launch gestrichen.

Sowohl Sony als auch LG (habe ich jemanden vergessen?) bieten 2020 endlich auch 48-Zoll-Geräte mit OLED-Panel an. Damit dürfte OLED auch in mittelgroße bzw. kleinere Wohnzimmer vorstoßen und insgesamt erschwinglicher werden.

Ui, lese das gerade mit Freesync. Ist das was anderes als VRR? Die PS5 läuft ja auf AMD und die unterstützen ja Freesync. Ich hoffe, dass dann auch auf den C9 kommt. Habe mir unter anderem wegen HDMI 2.1 und dessen Features im November den C9 gekauft.

BFI ist halt Black Frame Frame Insertion. Wie der Name schon sagt, werden dort schwarze Zwischenbilder einberechnet.
Aktuell ist es halt nur eine 60 Hz BFI. Was in manchem Content zu starkem flackern führt und das Bild doch noch etwas stärker abdunkelt.

Ist auch für Spiele interessant, da die dann etwas flüssiger aussehen. Aber auch für anderen Content. Beim C9 usw. ist die aktuelle Implementation unbrauchbar.
Zumindest aus meiner Sicht. Aber 120 Hz BFI reizt mich dennoch nicht. Hat mich deswegen auch nicht gestört, dass die es rausgenommen haben.

FreeSync wurde damals von AMD entwickelt. Deren Implementation von FreeSync via HDMI und dem HDMI Forum VRR ist wohl relativ ähnlich. Aber dennoch nicht kompatibel.
Deswegen lässt sich FreeSync nicht mit den aktuellen OLEDs nutzen. Wobei es sich theoretisch leicht ändern lassen sollte, da es wohl nur ein paar kleinere Änderung bräuchte.
Vielleicht fügt LG das ja also noch bei den 2019er Modellen via Softwareupdate hinzu. Rechnen würde ich damit jetzt aber nicht, da sie sich so ja die Verkaufsargumente der 2020 TVs berauben würden.

So oder so ist das Fehlen von FreeSync kein wirklicher Genickbruch. Die Spezifikation von HDMI 2.1 setzen auch weiterhin HDMI VRR vorraus. Von daher werden auch die Next Gen Konsolen und Grafikkarten eben mit Unterstützung von HDMI VRR daherkommen. FreeSync ist dort zwar auch wahrscheinlich, aber HDMI VRR ist hier trotzdem relevanter. FreeSync ist in der Hinsicht auf lange Sicht eigentlich unnötig. Ist jetzt im Moment halt nur ein nettes Feature für Leute mit AMD Grafikkarten.
FreeSync sollte allerdings auch bedeuten, dass die Displays Low Frame Rate Compensation unterstützen. Es hieß zwar mal, dass die 2019er OLEDs ebenfalls mit LFC daherkommen. Soll aber jetzt wohl doch nicht so sein.

Für Konsolen ist VRR usw. aber sowieso eher irrelevant, da die meisten Konsolen Games meistens so stark optimiert sind, dass FPS Drops dort relativ selten sind.
Sind ja meistens sowieso gecapped.

Gibt im übrigen erste Meinungen zu dem LG CX. In Sachen Helligkeit soll sich nicht wirklich was getan haben im Vergleich zum C9.
Das Tone Mapping soll allerdings noch etwas verbessert worden sein. Selbiges gilt auch fürs Upscaling. Was aber unterm Strich wohl auf den neuen Prozessor zurückzuführen ist.
In der Hinsicht also wohl doch eher ein kleines Update. Aber für die finalen Antworten, müsste man wohl doch noch den Release abwarten.

Nein. Zumal 120 Hz Reaktionszeit Blödsinn ist. kP wie die darauf kommen
Die Reaktionszeit wird in ms angegeben und ist nahe zu 0 ms, da die Pixel quasi direkt umschalten können.
Dementsprechend hat man auch bei OLEDs nicht die typischen Nachzieheffekte, die LCD Displays bringen.

Das was die mit den 120 Hz meinen ist einfach, dass Sport auf solchen Displays noch etwas flüssiger aussieht. Wobei selbst
das aus meiner Sicht auch eher ein komisches Argument ist, da Fußball usw. ja sowieso nur mit 50 FPS über den TV kommt. Von daher macht sich das 120 Hz maximal dann bemerkbar, wenn man Sachen wie True Motion hinzuschaltet.

Selbst NVIDIA nutzt bei deren Implementation via HDMI die Implementation des HDMI Forums.
Man konnte ja auch schon seit einigen Monaten mittels Beta Treiber VRR mit NVIDIA Karten nutzen.
Dafür brauchte es ja nicht mal ein Firmwareupdate. Das war nur notwendig, damit der Treiber die LG TVs als
G-Sync Kompatibel erkennt. Aber aktivieren und nutzen konnte man das ja auch ohne diese Mitteilung im Treiber ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Gut, am Ende geht es wohl doch alles auf Adaptive Sync zurück.
Adaptive Sync ist ja quasi das Vorbild von FreeSync und (angeblich) von HDMI VRR.
Aber in den aktuellen Formen ist das alles doch noch stärker unterscheidbar.

Adaptive Sync wurde ja als Protokoll von der VESA für den DisplayPort eingeführt.
AMD hat sich das halt "vorgenommen" und auf dem Standard aufbauend FreeSync entwickelt.
Da gibt es ja dann verschiedene FreeSync "Versionen", wie bspw. FS Premium und FS Premium PRO. Wo die
Anforderungen an die Monitore noch etwas angehoben sind (Hz, LFC, HDR etc.).

Dann hat AMD irgendwann angefangen den Standard auch über HDMI anzubieten. Was in der Form halt
eine komplette Eigenentwicklung seitens AMD ist.

Mit HDMI 2.1 hat das HDMI Forum dann den VRR ansatz aufgegriffen und, so heißt es, sich eben an AdaptiveSync bzw. dem Protokoll orientiert. AMD selber macht da aber wohl eben ein paar Sachen noch anders (angeblich geht es da nur um Sachen im EDID), weswegen FreeSync via HDMI und HDMI VRR nicht ohne weiteres gehen ^__^

Und NVIDIA hat halt die Version des HDMI Forums genommen. Weswegen sich die Karten ja nun auch "HDMI 2.1 kompatibel" schimpfen dürfen

Angeblich haben bei Sony nur die 8K TVs richtiges HDMI 2.1.
Was mal wieder eine sehr merkwürdige Entscheidung ist.
