■ Standby
The Standby button on the subwoofer is turned on or in the
Suspend mode.
■ Auto On
The electronics of the AW-443 has a standby mechanism, which it
automatically enters a low-power mode when
long time no signal. This function is called by pressing
Auto On switch on and off.
• When displaying "I" on the display, the standby is on automatic
high sensitivity adjusted.
• Pressing auto On 2 "will" is displayed and
the automatic responding only to about twice as high signal level.
• When displaying "0", the function is deactivated.
■ Low Cut
The AW-443 is a very low distortion and very low limit
frequency-optimized. Its maximum achievable sound pressure is in the
most cases, more than sufficient. By means of the low-cut
Function, there is still moreover, the possibility of the lower
Cut-off frequency of the subwoofer to increase slightly, so that the maxi-
mum achievable volume rises again.
When displaying "1" on the display is the highest vol-
strength achievable when showing "0" results in the lowest possible
Bass reproduction.
■ Soft Clip
Subwoofer give very deep bass-driven sound effects especially
spectacular again. Often they are therefore up to the performance
limit of the amplifier and beyond "turn up". In particular
DERS extreme cases this may result in distortions in the form of
Scratching noises coming, known as clipping. To make this
prevent the soft clip function can be turned on. The
be audible distortions over-modulated power amplifier
to thereby effectively reduced. Even if the input signal
relative to full scale (or the power limit) to the
Three times is excessive, there remains a distortion-free music
reproduction possible. This is in modern surround "LFE" Effect
channels particularly advantageous, since these are often the usual level and
Dynamic peaks are processed clean and the listener does not
force to a constant level adjustment.
The circuit also reduces the mechanical and thermal
Mix stress, which is exposed to the speaker system when
it at high volume levels and duration of temporary override
is operated. Allows to turn off the soft-clip function
but a stronger Tracing of spikes is not for
thought continuous operation at high volume.
Indicated by "I" on the display is the soft clipping circuit
activated when showing "0" it is disabled.
■ Freq. Satellite
The AW-443 has an internal filter for the satellite line out. With the
Buttons Freq. Satellite, the lower limit frequency of the output
signals are set.
The setting can range from "40" to "199" Hz with a
Slope of 12 dB / octave. The indicator on the display
corresponds to the crossover frequency.
Remote control
OO I ■ Phase
By adjusting the phase is ensured that the membranes
nen of subwoofer and satellites in "common mode" wield. Is the
Phase is set incorrectly, it may be that the sound elements
of subwoofer and satellite speakers at the crossover frequency
wipe out. Although this means technically no danger usually sounds
but as if the bass is not really fit with the rest of the music.
In such a case, the phase can be changed as long as,
until a better sounding configuration found.
Unlike conventional analog amplifier modules, is in amplifier
kermodul the AW-443 only to 150 ° phase by temporal comparison
delay "turned" in hiring 180 °, the signal is converted
polarizes and is thus again at the correct time with 180 ° phase shift.
At about the same hearing distance of the front speakers and the
AW-443 subwoofer is the optimal setting of the phase in
Interaction with nuBox satellites typically 180 °. This
Setting also applies to all other Nubert boxes and Bass Reflex
Satellites, only with smaller closed boxes as our
Wall speakers are usually represents a 0 °.
Does the subwoofer conditioned living room with well over 1 m
deviant listening distance are positioned to the satellites,
determine the optimum bass response please by corre-
sponding adjustment of the phase.
The setting can range from "0" to "180" degrees. The
On the display corresponds to this value.
■ Freq. Sub
The AW-443 operates in a frequency range of 29 Hz (lower
Cut-off frequency) up to an adjustable upper with these keys
Cutoff frequency. This allows the acoustic transition to the
Optimize speakers. In general, in the case of large vol-
be selected speakers a relatively low cut-off frequency,
while for smaller speakers usually have a higher marginal
frequency leads to better results.
The setting can range from "40" to "199" Hz with a
Slope of 12 dB / octave. The indicator on the display
corresponds to the crossover frequency.
■ Volume
Using the volume keys to adjust the volume of your subwoofer
regardless of the settings of other devices are changed
the. The indicator on the display shows the degree of volume
Damping and is calibrated in (minus) dB values. It covers
from "55" (ie, -55 dB, quietest setting) to "0" (loudest
Setting). If the automatic calibration of surround
Receivers are used, as a typical baseline
"15" can be preset.
■ Presets
Once settings made, with the help of
Save preset buttons and convenient for later recall.
The saving effected by the desired preset button (1, 2,
3 or 4) is pressed and held until the preset number on the
Display flashes briefly the subwoofer. All current settings of the
Subwoofers are then stored in the current preset. It offers
be such. to B., different configurations for normal stereo,
Applied for stereo effects, surround and surround effect normal
place. By briefly pressing the respective button, the
Settings of each preset recalled.

? Design objective
To remain true to the proven concept and at the same time in all
relevant details to implement improvements, the goal was in
the development of nuBox series. The classic design,
works seamlessly in many residential environments, was therefore
maintained as well as two-way technology, the best possible the
granted Liche price-performance ratio.
Acoustically, the series was by the introduction of new tech-
develop technologies, however, significantly, especially considering the
Draft of the boxes and the sound neutrality is clear.
? Speakers
Tweeter
The reproduction of high frequencies takes a tweeter
with 25 mm silk dome tweeter and grille. To a high load
To ensure availability, the voice coil with ferro is
low viscosity fluid cooled while a specially damped
Back chamber to an acoustically favorable behavior in the area
the transition to the woofer contributes. This equipment features

ges omnidirectional optimized front plate longstanding
Developments from the nuLine- and nuVero series.
Woofer
The woofer used has a die-cast aluminum
basket with 22 cm diameter. He is in flow-effective design
executed and has a generous rear ventilation of the centering
spider, whereby compression effects avoided and the cooling
ment of the voice coil is improved at high continuous load.
The new design makes the polypropylene membrane an au-
abnormally large lifting capability and profound Basswieder-
task. The combination of these properties with excellent reso-
nanzarmem behavior in the upper transmission range is for
Chassis of this size and exceptionally allowed the
trouble free use in Zweiwegsystemen.
? Crossover
The crossover of nuBox series are expressed with
made high-quality components in Germany and especially on
the respective cabinet models tuned.
The special core coils are also at very high amplification
kerleistungen not in saturation and combine this with low
Losses and distortions. Air coils (ie copper wire coils
without core) with similar low internal resistance had neither a
considerably higher weight and volume and entail no audible
ble benefits.
To adjust the sound characteristics of spatial conditions and
personal listening preferences has the nuBox 683 via two switches,
the variation of the bass intensity in two stages and an exhaust
allow determination of the Hochtonmenge even in three stages.
A note on the complexity of crossovers:
It is surprising that, especially in the world of high-end
Fans steadfastly maintains the prejudice that one could do with fewer parts
in a crossover better results in terms of import
achieve pulse processing. With the simple (and cheap) 6 dB
Soft, often only one component for each speaker
consist cher chassis, the vibration control Eigenle-
ben speaker systems can not be controlled. Nor
can thus phase-optimized Linkwitz-Riley filters build.
For optimum coupling of the speaker chassis was on
steep-edged, phase-optimized filter set. The increased components-
expense reflected in a very linear frequency response and
not least in the most free and open way of playing
Speaker again....
