Hi,

hier die noch offene Antwort aus dem CARA-Forum, was wohl auch die Frage beantwortet, weshalb die Nubert-LS in CARA Quick (Stereoplay) drin sind und (noch?) nicht in der Lizenzvollversion.

The loudspeaker models used in CARA Quick are highly simplified and therefore not compatible with those for CARA. Because they are simpler, a larger range of loudspeakers can be easily modelled.

CARA Quick assumes a rectangular room and only calculates below 250 Hz where sound radiation of loudspeakers can be approximated by a pure spherical radiation characteristic.

Above 250 Hz, the frequency response curves are evaluated using the anechoic SPL curve (at 0 degrees) corrected by a generic term for the reverberational part of the room sound field.

Because CARA allows both arbitrarily-shaped rooms and calculations over the entire frequency range, the complete 3D sound radiation pattern of the sound source is required. CARA uses the sound pressure levels at 1000 angles around the loudspeaker, at four different distances (1, 3, 5, 10 m) and at frequencies from 5 to 20480 (40960) Hz. These 4000 SPL frequency response curves (anechoic) can no longer be obtained from SPL measurements but have to be simulated/precalculated by proper loudspeaker design tools.

Some of the previous statements I am repeating from talking to people more versed in acoustics than I am (but less versed in English). I'm pretty sure I got it correct, but please bear with me if there is a problem in translation!

Hope this helps!
