NuVero 11 speakers with Quad 66/606 is good match?
NuVero 11 speakers with Quad 66/606 is good match?
Sorry for posting in english but i am from Holland and my german is not soo good. I am thinking of modernizing my present hifi system, consisting of a Quad 66/606 with B&W Matrix III speakers. This is a more or less classic british combination, and although i do consider the newer models of the B&W 800 series as well , the Nubert speakers might make for a nice change after over 20 years of enjoying this system.
Based on the good test results i am considering buying nuVero 11 speakers for the now about 20 years old Quad amplifier/ preamplifier.
Anyone has any experience or info about the resulting sound? I can imagine the Nuvero is slightly more neutral? Or would any other Nubert speaker be a better match?

Re: NuVero 11 speakers with Quad 66/606 is good match?
Wellcome in the world of Nubert!
I wouldn't care too much about the amplifier since the sound of loudspeakers vary more than the sound of amplifiers.
You are right, the nuVero is extremly neutral and matches to most of the amplifiers.
Try the nuVero at home an you will see!
You can call the hotline. I'm sure there is at least one guy speaking english and I'm sure all of them don't laugh at you if your german isn't soo good!
Don't worry, the german of some other members isn't so good either....pieters hat geschrieben:my german is not soo good

Hello pieters,
I totally agree to Blue Danube's statement, that you shouldn't worry about your amplifier. The Quads are powerful enough to fit with the NuVero 11.
Concerning your question about other Nubert speakers, propably being a better match, it would be nice to have some more information about your room, preferred kind of music and so on. Maybe the NuLine Series is an alternativ for you.
best wishes

room size
Thanks for the reactions. I do realize the amplifier is not as important as the speakers, however the quad does have some colour, it is a bit soft. So that is one of the reasons i am considering the nubert speakers, i guess they might compensate for some of this softness.
And for the requested background info -the room is about 33 square m, 5 m wide by 6.5 m long, with both speakers at the short side. The floor surface is hard, with one large carpet, so not a really large amount of damping. I like jazz and world music.

good morning pieters,
thanks for the further information
. Dealing with your question i tried to get some information about your current speakers because i unfortunatelly haven't had the opportunity to listen to them yet. Knowing B6W sound in general i assume that the connection between the Quads (you described their sound as a little bit soft) and the Matrix III might have been a little bit too much softness.
From my point of view Nubert speakers differ more or less relevant from claasic "British-Style-Speakers", especially concerning lower and mid frequency performance. They do not emphasize any frequency and that makes them sound really neutral.
For your use I'ld like to recommend the NuVero 11 or the NuVero 14 as well as the NuLine 122 speakers. At the end it's a question of money and WAF s well, which model you prefer.
I want to stress the advice to contact the Nubert Hotline. You'll be surprised about professinality and friendliness of the NSF supporters
best wishes
edit: I remebered thar this guy "satbird2002" is from netherlands too and uses NL 122 speakers. Perhaps you can get in contact via PN and gain some detailed information in your language

Hello,
take a look at the ATM modules, they might be helpful to blend over from the warm colored setup you're familiar with, to the precise and clear nubert sound. (Matrix and other B&Ws often lacks @ 2 kHz)
ATM and NV11 (or NuLine 122) is a powerful combination and hard to beat.
Edit: And yes, Quads in good shape are by far not the worsest pre-amp combination for your planned speakers. I guess you reach 97% of the possible sonic quality and 80 % of the possible dynamics, just some more powerful monos and studio pres can do a bit more.

nubert helpline
In reply to the friendly posting of Stevienew : i actually started off by mailing Nubert whether they had any experience with the quad / Nubert combination, and they replied that " 140 watts per channel (8 ohms) are enough to push on nuVero 11, but we haven’t ever listened to our speakers with Quad amplifiers" and advised me to post in here..
