Onkyo TX-SR805 good enough for nuBox-311-Set 2?

Beitrag von vargat »

Hi,

I am thinking about the above surrond set (nuBox 311 set). The technical sheets lists the impedance at 4 ohms.
I am a newbie in HiFi/Home cinema. My question is if the above onkyo amplifier is strong enough to drive these little speakers. I am a bit worried about these ohm values, since I basically do not know anything about these things. So anyone who has experience with the above combo or with no experinece (because the amp is rather new), but can have an educated guess regardless, could you, please, enlighten me? Here is a link about the amp:

Thanks very much,

I'm not the most experienced either but I'd say that amp has plenty of power and therefore shouldn't have the slightest problem with the nuBox 311 set.

Greetings,

first of all, Nubert speakers do normally not require very strong amps.
Onkyo designs quite powerful AVR's where numbers normally meet reality. My AVR, considerably weaker than the Onkyo, also has only 6 or 8 Ohm settings but drives my (bigger) speakers beyond to "normal" volume range. Nevertheless he switched off once, even with additional power amps for the front speakers.

In your case, I propose to ask the hotline to be absolutely sure, but I suppose that there is no problem as the Onkyo seems to be sufficiently strong even for more demanding set ups as the one you mentioned. I think it even would make sense to consider a smaller amp for the chosen speakers. But here as well the Hotline might give the best advise.

Hello and welcome to the nuForum

Don't worry. The Onkyo wouldn't have a problem with these or bigger bookshelf-speakers from Nubert.

BTW:
The thing is, if you bought (e.g.) an 8-ohm-speaker, it isn't said, that this is really an 8-ohm-speaker, because of wrong specifications.

The best hint is to call the Nubert-Hotline.
