X-4000 ohne sub; X-3000 mit XW700 oder mit XW900?

Hallo zusammen!

Ich bin hier neu. And my German is not very good.
I hope you don't mind posting here in English. I can read German though!

In the near future, I am going to replace my aging floorstanders (Epos M22).
I could use a little more bass. Allbeit a relaxed non-booming bass. Just deep.
Floorstanders do not fit my interior anymore (esthetics).

My room is 9 x 5 = 45 m2. Speakers are placed near the long wall (5 m to the opposite wall).
The speakers are intended for music mainly, occasionally movies. I allmost never play them very loud.

I really like the Nubert nuPro X RC series (But I have never heard them).

This is what I am thinking:
1) X-4000. Maybe allready enough bass? If so, then there would not be a X-6000 or X-8000, isn't it?
2) X-3000 + XW-700. Should have enough bass.
3) X-3000 + XW-900. Just go that extra mile. If to much bass, there is Room Callibration.
4) X-4000 + XW-900. Why have the X-4000, I you have a sub there is no benefit over the X-3000. Or is there?

This brings me to option 3, two X-3000 RC + one XW-900.

What do you think?

Hi Fred,

tough decision. The good news is: none of it is bad.

I own the X-3000 + XW-700 combo but have a much smaller room than you. For such a large room I would consider using 2 subs for even bass distribution. So there is another option of X-3000/4000 + 2x XW-700/900. With such a setup you would be very flexible to find the best spot for the subs in the room for a great bass response. But of course that means a lot of gear. I think it really comes down to your budget.

Compared to a lot of passive speakers I made the experience that they need some volume to deliver a good bass response. The X-Series sounds good and punchy even with low volume when using the very good loudness feature.

Ich kann alles lesen und auch verstehen, aber mein Englisch langt nicht um sauber zu antworten.

45qm= nuPro X4000 or X3000 without subwoofer won‘t work well in larger rooms. Because the speakers x 4000 and the x 3000 are trimmed / optimiced to a Maximum depht but Not volume.

My Proposition: X4000 + One Subwoofer XW900 or two XW700.

From your answers I conclude that I will need at least one sub.
I think I will settle for one XW-900 as I don't need an even bass distribution for the whole room, only in the area in front of the speakers.

You tend to prefer the X-3000 over the X-4000 for my situation.
Even in combination with a sub.

So do you think, that even with a sub, the X-4000 has an advantage over the X-3000?

My thoughts were that, perhaps, the 148 mm driver of the X-3000 would result in a better midrange than the X-4000's 169 mm driver (The X-6000 and X-8000 have also the 148 mm for the midrange).
As the lower end ( under 60 to 100 Hz) is done by the sub, then there is no advantage anymore for the 169 mm driver over the 148mm.
How do you look at this?

The X 4000 moves more physics. With a separation of 60/80Hz (mostly ideal when you using Subwoofers), the loudspeaker has to work.

If you only use one Subwoofer, it makes Sense to part late (60/80/100Hz). Otherwise the Subwoofer you can be located.

Hi I am with aaof. I Would be prefering the 4000 even I can follow your logic regarding the midrange. But personally I liked the midrange and soundstage of the 4000 better than those of a 3000. I think aaof is right to argue that with a larger room a larger driver makes sense as you want to use the 4000 at least down to 80 Hz. Sure you dont want a floorstander? If not one or to 900 make also sense .

Thank you, Listener and aaof for your clear answers. It will be two X-4000 + one XW-900 for me!
First I have to make some other choices, after that I can order my Nuberts.

Your thoughts regarding the midrange make sense but I don't think you will have a worse midrange with a 169mm driver than with a 148mm one.

I don't said I generally prefer the X-3000 over the the X-4000 for your room but in combination with two subs there wouldn't be as much advantage and for the price difference of the X-4000 over the X-3000 you could get another XW-700. I also said that it comes down to your budget.
But if you settle on one sub I would agree with the others and go for X-4000 + XW-900. Later on, if you feel the need you could always get another XW-900.
As a start I would suggest to set the cutoff frequency to 60Hz. As already mentioned: With just one sub a higher cutoff freq like 80 or 100Hz could make the sub being located.
